My oldest was around 5 or 6 when he first played a game. Super Mario World was the game. It was hilarious. He kept trying to walk forward with the game until the TV was pretty much behind him. When he ran out of cord he'd go back to where he started and do it again.

Video games are a great way to bond with kids. And when you do it with them it's much easier to teach moderation... Retro gaming IMO is the way to go for family gaming.

Agreed. Although, i believe it's important to actually be involved with them in the game playing and not simply used as a device or tool just to distract them and leave unattended (pretty much like all things really).
