Is it possible to turn anger into a positive?

I’m mad at the world lately. It’s for many reasons. I’ll admit I’m a very spiteful and revenge-oriented person. I’ve always tried to get…..more than “even.”

Things perceived as personal attacks have usually led to me fucking YOU more than you tried to fuck ME. But the current adversary seems to be more “the world” than something I can simply finger as an asshole person.

Lately, meaning the last few years, I feel like I channel my anger as revenge. For instance, I used to hit the gym pumping exciting and enjoyable music to maintain and/or tone myself. Fun music and good vibes to get that lift up. It’s not the same anymore.

Now, in the past few years, I feel more motivated to stay “powerful”, at least optically, to intimidate anyone I receive as a threat.

The reality is, I’m targeting gains in physique and finance as a way to make perceived “threats” take a step back. My most “productive” days would be fueled by any emotions my Lord and Savior would approve of.

Is it even possible to be angry AND make quality “gains” in life?

Exercise. For me lately it's a hard phonk playlist, my weight bench, my treadmill, ab wheel, ab straps, pullup bar. I do HIIT and switch between lifting and cardio and various equipment. The weights were picked up for free on craigslist years ago and i paid 100 bucks for a quality treadmill from a fat chick moving cross country that was clearly never used. Also get a punching bag if you can. Channel your anger into technique and developing skill.

Positive vibes but I do these things angry. I used to do all these things to move forward and be someone who could help people.

I don’t feel anything more, lately, than to be able to crush my perceived “enemies.” I’m not helpful like I used to be. I’m mad and cutting people off. It’s not healthy. And I know it.

In that case. Try hot yoga. i'm dead ass serious. they have places that crank the temp up like a sauna. It works your body in a completely different fashion. The heat lets you zone out and just forget your problems. Plus it does wonders for complexion and skin. The stress relief you feel as well.

I’m paying attention. I’ll have to see if that’s available anywhere near me.

You are doing it right working on finance and hitting the gym. Are you also spending time in the outdoors? For me outside is a natural mood adjustment. Big reason I enjoy hiking, camping, and took up photography.

I like to walk outside, especially while it’s cold. It’s a boost for sure.

Any favorite you can lead me to?

I do believe anger, hatred, and misery are powerful motivators; I don't agree with "be happy!" shit which is just repressing real emotions. If you get in between the lizard-brain emotions and the instructions it gives the cerebellum, it's possible to redirect the energy.

I appreciate you coming through with the link. I’m checking it out.

Do exercises that are like fighting. Push-ups on your fists, jump-kick squats, stab the shit out of something, etc.

I feel like I’m “stabbing” everyone. Just mad.

Try creating things. If you have the money, buy a small chunk of land and build a house or something. Physical labor gives you time to think while you do something productive.

Am I right to assume that you are in your 30s?

Who wants to know??

It's just us, mossad. Once a man hits 30s some kind of a new role in society is subconsciously assigned to him. I believe many of us here are supposed to be leaders in our communities if everything wasn't kiked to make sure we never rise to such positions.

No amout of lifting or boxing bag smashing will make you curb that natural urge that comes from deep inside.

Pick one subject to oppose. If you try to fight the whole world all at once you will be overwhelmed.

That’s pretty good. And if not down to one, less is probably a good idea.

Get in the best physical shape possible. Pursue owning a business, and owning some land. These may be long term goals but achievable. Be self reliant. Living well is the best revenge Pursue virtue

If you have time, volunteer to help people. I know it sounds gay but sometimes when I'm fucking pissed, I kill em with kindness. You don't have to help people that piss you off but help someone, anyone, you feel deserves it whenever your angry. I find that usually takes the pressure off my anger to see someone actually appreciate something.

[–] 1 pt

Not gay. Great advice. I’ve been away from the church I started going to while a house is being built. It’s been a like 2 months+ but I should be back out there in a few weeks if all goes well. I’d do stuff like help on donation days, carry stuff for the food box handouts, and help some older people with a few guys like cutting grass and fixing steps and stuff. I do miss that because it’s socializing that does me some good. For sure.

We can all use a reminder sometimes. I feel the same way as you lately and you just reminded me of a solution that helped me. I will be taking my own advice. Thanks for the reminder!

Listen to St. Anger.

Just to be sure, the Metallica song? Asking because it could be the name of a podcast or something like that.

The Metallica album.
