Yeah, the ash was always a PITA to deal with but I felt like it was worth it. Even if I can't get back out into the country in the near future im going to see if I can get a wood stove again. It will probably not be easy because of all of the commies around here but fuck them. They can envy me when they can smell that fireplace in the middle of winter and wish they had one.

Last year we were without power for awhile, yeah yeah I know Im in Texas and its not that cold comparatively. But I have taken steps to make it better this year if it happens again. Of course it shtf I will have to break out the woodstove and pipes and thru the wall kit in storage.

Where I am from the rule is that you must have at least 3 ways to "power" your home. Gas, Electric, Fire.

If you don't then you might die. There have been times where the power was out for an extended period of time but the wood stove was able to keep the whole place warm and we could use it to heat up food or cook.

We even had to help family drain pipes and have them come over because it was taking so long to get the power back on. All of them now have a wood stove.

I don't live there anymore but I want to go back. Its not for some people but I can't imagine a situation like that in a big city... It would be everyone for themselves. You can only help so many and the rest would just attack you.

well I have propane and electric, and wood but it would be a pain in the ass to hook up. But I have another option for short term.
