I have 33 waist Levi's. Granted, they are vintage. I haven't bought any new Chinese jeans made of crepe paper.

Jeans are indeed crepe paper now. I have one month new jeans that were plumber's pants style slipping down because I didn't feel like putting on my belt. I pulled up one of the belt loops and it instantly ripped to become a jeans noodle dangling in the back.

selvedge jeans - japanese ones in particular - are really well made. Pure Blue Japan, Naked and Famous, Momotaro are putting out solid offerings. Black Friday sales have them pretty discounted too, if you're looking for something.

Thank you i'll look into those.

I quit levis long ago. Actually I quit jeans cause if something were to happen and I had to walk home I want useful pockets. Same reason I started wearing a belt.

Ariats, though stitched offshore ('Nam), hold up better than most modern offerings. Jocko's Origin '68s made in Maine, USofA and also legit. Neither offering are the cheapest, but embody, "You get what you pay for."

Because each size fits a range of two inches? If they had it in inch increments you could ask the same, why do they assume we are in whole inch increments.

But maybe an inch has a big effect on looseness. After all there's the mind-bending setup of a 25,000-mile rope around the world that just fits the circumference. The goal is to allow it to be one foot off the ground all the way around. How much rope do you add?

seriously? we are talking pants, a half inch is multitudes different than two inches.

I know that you are being rhetorical but...

Prior to the grid expansion, we had tailors. They would take your measurements and you would wear your fit. Housewives would beg you to let them patch it up so that you would not look so rough if anything happened. Or be taken back to the tailor.

Eventually there was mass production. Yes. Mass production helped a lot. But even those mass produced didn't come from China, and could be worn your entire life.

I have gone to the 'tactical' type pants now. Like I said I like the pockets when needed, of course day to day I hate having anything in my pockets but when needed..

It used to be that you would have clothing tailored to you. It is worth doing for at least a few nice shirts.

If you find a local shop it probably wont cost much either. With a few exceptions, they probably don't get much business anymore. If you have ever caught yourself thinking that someone really has a good fit its probably because they got it tailored.

Im sure the deer would appreciate it if I got my clothes tailored.

At one point, even the working man had at least a few tailored shirts, pants maybe a jacket. It was about self-respect. Not about "showing off" like everything has become these days.

Though, you would not wear those cloths out on the farm/ranch/etc ;)

I thought I was being fancy with my legendary whitetails clothes. But I know what you mean, I have worn a different fitting tshirt and people thought I had got in better shape, naw, its just the shirt.

Pants too loose? Carry IWB to fix it.

[–] 1 pt

I abhor iwb carry.

Lucky for you it's full size OWB season, too bad about your belt size though.
