I remember that day. I was sitting in a bar, right after returning to the gym. Reddit was a shitshow for a couple of days, then someone suggested Voat as a free speech alternative. Interesting times, back then.

Yeah, I quit reddit that same day and went to voat, never even signed back into reddit. My son tells me to this day some IT subs are good but Im like you could find the info somewhere else.

The red pill got banned too, shortly afterwards. I feel like there were others too like some equivalent of gore/dead bodies or something and maybe some type of pick up or incel board as well. It was ban city at reddit for about 6 months, then the asian bitch ceo left afterwards

Maybe 2015, well before Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign was underway.

It was definitely 2015, from Ellen Pao’s jewiki page: “In 2015, decisions made by the company during her tenure, such as the banning of controversial Reddit communities for harassment, shadow banning legitimate accounts, and failing to fix the flawed karma system generated a wave of controversy that culminated in her stepping down. The backlash she received sparked debates both on the treatment of women in technology and the need for transparency in a company that relies on volunteers.[8][9][10]

Since 2016, she has been the co-founder and CEO of the non-profit diversity consulting organization Project Include.[11]”

"At approximately 2pm EST on Wednesday, June 10th 2015, admins released this announcement post, declaring that a prominent subreddit, r/fatpeoplehate (details can be found in these posts, for the unacquainted), as well as a few other small ones (r/hamplanethatred, r/trans_fags*, r/neofag, r/shitniggerssay) were banned in accordance with reddit's recent expanded Anti-Harassment Policy."

First, they nuked FPH, then they lynched Coon Town. Fuckin' fags.

It's around the time Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president. They really started ratcheting down in response to that if I remember correctly.

That is also when they started buying up old reddit accounts to assist in their astro turffing.
