I used to put so much torque on the rod using a roll across the flat palm technique with grab and wrist snap that I usually tore the skin open on my right palm near where it meets the wrist before the end of the night. I used to play for beers in the pubs, when I started losing I knew I'd had enough to drink. Preferred doubles over singles, and I liked playing back the most. My motto was "you can't defend against what you can't see" ... I was exceptionally deadly playing back. I do miss it. Hard to believe how many years ago that was.
