My favorite tables were the old blue tops with the small handle grips. If you hit the ball hard enough it would ricochet underneath the table and pop out of the opposing goal. Lol!
It's been years since I seriously played too. The last time was so frustrating because without practice, my timing and touch were way off and what were once some my best shots were impossible to perform.
I used to put so much torque on the rod using a roll across the flat palm technique with grab and wrist snap that I usually tore the skin open on my right palm near where it meets the wrist before the end of the night. I used to play for beers in the pubs, when I started losing I knew I'd had enough to drink. Preferred doubles over singles, and I liked playing back the most. My motto was "you can't defend against what you can't see" ... I was exceptionally deadly playing back. I do miss it. Hard to believe how many years ago that was.
