I used to cook with aluminum all the time. Putting it under fish, chicken, and meat baking it in the oven or doing hobo dinners in the fire but then I heard that it causes memory loss. That it could be a path for dementia so I haven't done it since a couple years ago. Is this just propaganda or the real deal?

I cook with aluminum all the time…

What were we talking about?

[–] 8 pts

I avoid using it whole cooking mainly because it can react with acidic foods changing the taste quite a bit, secondary reason would be because it's been shown to be a possible link to alzheimers and dementia.

slight tangent but on topic: did you notice we used to use tinfoil until people started making hats out of them, then we learn that aluminum causes Alzheimer's, THEN suddenly, there is only aluminum foil, no more tinfoil!!

I remember as a boy we used to call a tin foil. But I think that was a carryover from the world war II generation.

I'm not sure how much aluminum would get in your food from aluminum foil or pans, I'd look it up but I'm sure certain people wouldn't allow an unbiased study anyway. I'd avoid it if you can but not worry too much about it otherwise. It's probably more important to stop using deodorant with aluminum and to avoid vaccines containing it.

The very act of cooking would impart aluminum atoms to foods; scraping with utensils, heating, acidic foods, etc.

[–] 0 pt

Yes. I don't use deodorant much. Staying hydrated keeps the stink down.

The risk is of aluminum is related to the aluminum found in the plaques within the brain for sufferers of Alzheimer's. This is where the link is derived. Typical vectors are vaccinations where it is used heavily, soda cans, cooking implements and DEODORANT.

Every time this topic comes up, only aluminum foil, aluminum pans and aluminum adjuvants in (((vaxxines))) come up. The biggest source of potential aluminum consumption in our lives is aluminum cans from sodas, juices and beer. Sure the cans are lined with a plastic material to prevent direct contact of the contents with aluminum can itself, but that is not a perfect barrier to acidic drinks or cans that have been around for a while.

Until some study that isn't jewed can link higher incidences of dementia or autism to drinking out of aluminum cans, I think it's difficult to say aluminum is the main cause of dementia. We won't get such a study, but I think the number of beer drinkers with dementia would be high if aluminum was indeed the smoking gun. I'm not saying aluminum doesn't play a part in dementia development, but I don't think we know enough here to say for sure it does or doesn't.

Also, that plastic liner in the cans, does that play a part in other health issues? I have not seen any concerns about the can or the lining so perhaps we're not looking at the situation properly. More work needs to be done in this area as well as all other sources of (((adulterated))) products we consume.

A good point. Plastic is terrible for us but the worlds rich keep doubling down on it.

[–] 3 pts

Look in your trash bin. Bet there's more plastic in it than anything else.

[–] 1 pt

Ugh plastic and Styrofoam infuriate me

afaik e.g. it's being used to trigger or reforce immune reactions in vaccines like MSG is being used to intensify the taste of foods, so you need less of the good and expensive stuff. I have no idea how long or how much one has to expose oneself to aluminium to create a negative effect, though. But imho you do the right thing trying to avoid it.

[–] 1 pt

Afaik?

[–] 1 pt

as far as I know

Most of my meals as a child and adolescent were prepared in aluminum cookware. I still have a few of my mother's aluminum pots and pans, although I don't use them. I don't think I exhibit any ill effects.

[–] 1 pt

My mom used to scrape off the teflon from using metal spatulas all the time. But that's a different topic. We always used aluminum when cooking. She fell to dementia 10 years and now my father's slipping too. I'm sure it's more than just metals in the the brain.

Eat cruciferous vegetables inorder to remove aluminum from the body.

[–] 0 pt

What is a cruciferous vegetable?

[–] 1 pt

Cruciferous vegetables are a diverse group of green leaf vegetables belonging to the Brassicaceae family.1 They include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, garden cress, bok choy, Brussels sprouts, mustard plant, collards, watercress, and radishes.0

It’s still called tin foil. Yet tin was used so fucking long along for it nobody even knows tin was used if it wasn’t still called it.

Why did it ever switch so brutally to aluminum? Things that make you go HMMMM I FUCKING HATE THE DEEP STATE
