I got to thinking back to high school, when I had 4 good, close friends. After they drifted away, I never made new friends. Sitting alone at night contemplating that is kind of lonely when I realize I'm sitting in the joy that is middle age with no close human contact like I had as a teenager/20s.

So how many friends do y'all have? No acquaintances, or people you hang out with. Real friends.

I have two good friends, outside of my wife.

That's me basically. There are two guys I IM almost daily, and meet up with a few times every year. Outside of that, I have another two friends that I don't get to talk to as often just because of how busy they are. There were a few more, but I'm guessing like most people here, I just lost touch with them either because I don't have much in common with them anymore or they stopped talking to me because they're not based enough (I rarely hold back my tongue).

And as for my wife, she has to hear all of my "wacky" rants because she has no other choice. =]
