With emotions you just gotta shit or get off the pot. Obviously rage has the potential for use in the short term. The nature of rage though is that it's like a cancer. A thought endlessly repeating in your head so much that the dopamine you release when angry becomes it's own addiction. The comfort comes from the familiarity and slowly over time moments of levity feel way more stressful and foreign than simply being pissed off all the time. Everything in life is an acquired taste. No one ever drank a budweiser the second time for the flavor.

Use emotions to reflect on what makes you sad and happy, and why. Make sure you're not spending time on something that you think makes you happy but actually harms you. If someone or something makes you sad, evaluate what you can change and what you can't and make adjustments to better your life. Anger, go to the gym, go running, do yardwork, and let loose that adrenaline as you analyze the situation, then take a cool head and do what you need to do to resolve the issue.
