Pretty expensive. I wonder if they are as private and secure as they say.

They also claim to be made in the US. I've been using Samsung phones for awhile but they are getting way up there in price too and the last one I bought did not even last 2 years before it started fucking up.

I'm about a year into this one and thinking of switching brands if it doesn't last longer this time.

I like Moto. I use a custom ROM. Relatively easy to root and de-bloat. Battery lasts for days, reasonable price.

I have their laptop. I didn't even really boot it into whatever OS it came with. I immediately put Arch on it because it was what I'm familiar with. I really like it. It's solid. I have a smart phone I use for work and at home, but a dumb (Light Phone) that I use when I leave my complex. I couldn't justify the cost of the Purism one just because I don't a smart phone outside of the apartment, anyway.

Never even tried the os ? lol,, that cracks me up. That is one of their claims to fame and you never even gave it a shot.

Nope! I'm terrible like that; always have been. Hand me a device and I pop whatever linux version I'm familiar with on it. I still freaking use the WindowMaker window manager on all my linux boxes in my home. I did Slackware for ages, then it became Arch when I was running into having to compile just about everything on Slack and got tired of it. It's just like I struggle with any mp3 player that doesn't run Rockbox. I'm stuck in my ways.

I can appreciate that. I'm pretty stuck in my ways as well.

I did use a braxman phone, until I dropped it.

Although it doesn't use the normal appstore, it was surprisingly easy to use day to day. My only complaint is that 1) no music streaming 2) no access to bank accts (even if you go through their website)

That's odd, I wonder why? Seems like website functionality would be standard for "smart" phones

Turns out that banks use all kinds of data tracking to authenticate their users having your username and password are not enough these days.

If your bank is unable to get some kind of data from your hardware they will not let you log in even with your correct password. They force you to reset and multi factor authenticate.

When I was first experiencing this, the banks top tier tech support said "huh, it's odd your device isn't giving our network the information it needs to log you in, I've never seen this before"

$1,999?? Holy shit.

Right?!?! But really, my last samsung bloteware device was like 12 hundred or so. If this is what it's cracked up to be and it lasts a few 3 or 4 years? I think it might be worth it.

It has a user replaceable battery. That is what kills most smart phones. The phone starts to get slow and lose its charging capacity because the battery is dying. If you could replace the battery the phone would work like new again.

I’m betting that one of these would last as long as two typical smart phones with a battery replacement.

So the price is in line then with the other big names.

Get a jewgle pixel, adb the shit out of it, put a privacy forward os on it, then build from there with free open source apps. Use a mobile form of tails or orbot or something like that.
