Rome changed the meaning of Pagan to reflect something like satanism, to force people to convert. In Ireland a Pagan was someone who lived off grid and pretty much lived holistically and worshiped the sun God and other deities.

Satan translates as enemy or adversary. It transliterates as the enemy of God and the Adamites.
Technically anything which opposes God and the Adamites, or is intended to mislead people away from God is satanic. I'm not sure at which point it was changed to mean devil worshipping or Luciferianism.
