Anything could have happened. People behind it got tired of it, didn't have enough money or time, or it could have gotten shoah'd or even was an operative site that no longer served it's purpose. Maybe the owner(s) are simply taking a "I'm burnt out" break.
Independent sites like that require some time and effort, so the "out of time or desire" probably did it in.

It's just my guess after reading the "about" page - it talks about a small group of people. Websites like that tend to just kind of stop when the people running them get tired.
