That describes me BUT back when I was looking at houses, and interest rates were 2%, I got approved for an $835,000 mortgage. The house I bought was around $300,000 at the time. Now everyone I know who bought the most house they could get approved for is shitting bricks because when their mortgage term is up, and they have to renew, their payments are going to triple or more to something they can't afford.

Another type of person who is comfortable now are the ones who bought a house, and lived as cheaply as possible for 5-10 years to aggressively pay that shit off.

It is amazing what they will "approve" you for. I saved for years to buy my car (used) in cash. They asked if I wanted to do financing and I let them run the numbers. They would have let me buy a new $60k car on my shitty income for some reason.

Yeah, I guess I could "technically" make the monthly payments.. If I did not need to pay for literally any other bill like.. food or rent.

And the world is full of dumb people who took every cent that someone would lend them.

Yep. They even tried to convince me that I could afford it and that instead of buying the used car I should buy new because blah blah blah...

I laughed at them, Said "Now im not buying anything from you" and walked out. They did the typical "follow you out" thing and I just told them I don't appreciate being treated like a moron.

It took a few months to find a similar car half a state away but I ended up buying that one instead and they didn't treat me like a moron.
