I'll put it down here the same way I teach it in real life:

Data is exactly that, data - it's inherently meaningless. Once data has been ascribed value, it then becomes information. Information without context or value is inherently meaningless. Once information has been ascribed value and is actionable, it then becomes intelligence.

Intelligence in itself is a powerful weapon but only it it can be applied - this begets wisdom. With wisdom, you identify trends and can map strategy accordingly.

You're right - a diet of just information for the sake of ingesting information is rather meaningless.
