I have just discovered that my new Android phone apparently does not allow me to export my contacts to a .vcf file, as I have always done in the past, UNLESS I GO THROUGH A GOOGLE APP!!!!

I consider this an egregious violation of my privacy to allow Google access to my phone contacts.

Am I missing something here, or have we really been compromised to this extent that we must share all our phone contacts with the Mother Ship?

Do you know another way to save my Contacts?

Probably depends on the phone.

The interface may not provide an easy way to export, but assuming the files are stored locally.. you should be able to connect the phone to a PC and export the files from the system folder where they are stored.

You can likely also find a file/folder browser application on google play which would allow you to do the same from the device itself.

I've used a program called ES file explorer in the past, but I can't really comment on the trustworthiness of that particular software. I only tried it because the company has some very useful PC software for arranging disk partitions and data.

Edit:EaseUS is apparently based in china, so I don't recommend that application.
