I have just discovered that my new Android phone apparently does not allow me to export my contacts to a .vcf file, as I have always done in the past, UNLESS I GO THROUGH A GOOGLE APP!!!!

I consider this an egregious violation of my privacy to allow Google access to my phone contacts.

Am I missing something here, or have we really been compromised to this extent that we must share all our phone contacts with the Mother Ship?

Do you know another way to save my Contacts?

Get f-droid and look for a contacts app that does not have an "anti-features" tag.

f-droid. Wow. Looks like a good resource for all kinds of things! Thanks.i (it says it stands for "free" android, but I think I prefer "fuck")

Maybe the file is corrupted. Transferring via pc to phone possible?

I'm not even talking about the file

Probably depends on the phone.

The interface may not provide an easy way to export, but assuming the files are stored locally.. you should be able to connect the phone to a PC and export the files from the system folder where they are stored.

You can likely also find a file/folder browser application on google play which would allow you to do the same from the device itself.

I've used a program called ES file explorer in the past, but I can't really comment on the trustworthiness of that particular software. I only tried it because the company has some very useful PC software for arranging disk partitions and data.

Edit:EaseUS is apparently based in china, so I don't recommend that application.

write them down on paper

Do you really think google doesnt access your phone anyway?

I'm sure they access everything done through my google account and associated apps. Outside of that, I'll make them work for it.

lost cause, I never use my google email never use and turn off maps and location. My phone is only used for calls and text, no banking info or anything else. Im sure google still knows everywhere I go and what I do.

the back door is always wide open to them, its not making them work for it, it is trivial for them

?? just write them down and type them into your new phone
