My dad virtually built our house by himself in 1964 at age 29, we moved in just before Christmas that year with subfloors, temporary kitchen cabinet that held the sink and one for the stove. He was a gifted cabinet maker turned carpenter/contractor/homebuilder and later a developer. The house had natural wood trim and moldings throughout. Dad finally built custom maple cabinets for mom's kitchen about 1967, the windows overlooked the back yard. The kitchen was spotless. A 1950s 15cuft white Kelvinator refrigerator with pink interior and a gleaming stainless steel ~1964 Tappan Fabulous 400 drop in range with hood.. The smells of dinner or desert in the air. Both the refrigerator and stove worked fine for 50+ years until they were replaced with a more modern refrigerator and stove.

Yes, wonderful memories of a simple childhood that always makes me very appreciative and grateful to my dear departed folks.
