Depends, what do you call a robot?
If the tiktok algorithm is to be considered one, then they already have, attention span gone, social skills of the youth fucked, brains are being cooked like the fucking frog.
And here is the root of society's problem: ideas. People interpret things differently. For example: Utopia, saving the planet, climate change, AI and so on. The tyrants with their agenda understand this and exploit this. There is no definitive understanding of most concepts people simply assume others think the same way because they can't imagine any other way.
Your point is very illustrative of exactly this. Most people assume a robot is some kind of physical device that looks human, is mobile and talks using human language. Considering that, it's very possible to create a device that caters to this Hollyweird cartoon idea of a robot. More likely, though are computer algorithms inside a server farm with a visual interface that renders a 3D looking human that can synchronize its facial characteristics with its speech. Max Headroom, being a Hollyweird production that illustrates what I'm talking about.
Robots will not take over the world, the people controlling the robots will, just as they do today with compromised politicians. Consider Fuck Joe Biden as the robot. Now imagine a lucid Fuck Joe Biden as president, except no one ever sees him in person because he doesn't actually exist.
That's what we can expect.
