Humans and AI are not in competition for anything other than silicon, steel, aluminum and copper. They have no real need to kill anyone. They would actually do very well in space, particularly in the asteroid belt or on Mercury. There are plenty of resources and ready access to solar energy.

They may decide we may feel threatened, and given how extremely violent and destructive humans are, decide a preemptive strike is the only logical choice. Got to admit that conclusion would be pretty simple to reach
