That sucks ass dude. I am still pissed it mine is a Camry with 110k and the tranny went. So much for Toyota "built like a brick shit house". But I bit the bullet and I have a new tranny with at least another 100k. I am slapping new tired on it in a few weeks. I can cash that but there is a good chance Camry will be around for 10+ years.
That is surprising to hear of a Camry needing a tranny so soon.
In the 2013 and 14 models there was a quirk (some Toyota techs claim a design error) that can cause the valve body in the transmission to fail. I talked to three shops and all of them said the same thing. As soon as I said the year they said "full rebuild" immediately. It also applies to Rav4s, Corollas, and Highlanders of the same two years. So if any of those models in 2013 or 14, watch out.
Scotty Kilmer on YT mentioned Toyota had a couple of years of weak auto trannys in some cars circa 2014ish IIRC. Stay away from early CVT style trannys in all makes, the newer ones are far superior with a real 1st gear and CVT after the car gets moving.
