I only have a basic understanding, but I recognize for instance that taxes pay for such things as congressman, Israel, foreign aid, military, welfare, etc. I'm curious what effects would immediately take place and what would potentially replace those two current systems.

Plus it's fun to use one's imagination :)

The constitution requires our money to be backed by gold or silver. It is the only way to pay debts. There is no money in the federal reserve system. The FRN promissory note only has “value” because people accept them. They are worthless and backed by nothing. It is legal tender and functions as an IOU for when the banking emergency is over.

The only way Congress could lawfully pull this off is if they created a new class of citizen (14th amendment) and people “volunteered” (social security) to be a member of this new society (legislative democracy). You receive “benefits and privileges” so long as you follow all their rules regulations and statutes.
