So I take the top off, clean up the head and internals, test it out. Picture is perfect now. Put the cover back on, and picture is back to messed up/streaky. What is my malfunction?

Edit: thanks guys. Seems I just had to beat the distortion out of it. Note I can enjoy some poky little puppy.

an intreresting problem i encountered recently was a keyboard that only malfunctioned in it's metal case. I separated the screw contact points w/ a lil electrical tape where the board screwed in. Long story short the case itself was creating a grounding problem of sorts.

Back side of the casing is a little snug, putting pressure on some component in there.
