So I take the top off, clean up the head and internals, test it out. Picture is perfect now. Put the cover back on, and picture is back to messed up/streaky. What is my malfunction?

Edit: thanks guys. Seems I just had to beat the distortion out of it. Note I can enjoy some poky little puppy.

Grounding something that shouldn't be grounded? Check to see if the cover is touching anything it shouldn't be.

Hard to say, can’t really see under the cover once it goes on. Maybe…
