Endless fires in my area for 20 years. Some very costly, big evacuations and lost homes. I watched a class 5 fire storm explode homes like balls of paper in a campfire, flames hundreds of feet high, created it's own storm and rained on itself. Most the last few years started by climate change terrorists. I just finished packing, now we wait to see how bad this one gets.

For this reason and more, I’m in the process of replacing the log cabin with a metal building.

We sold ours before a fire came. Insurance was too expensive.

damn. Fuck them. I wish someone had told me in my 20's: instead of paying for health insurance, put that 100 dollars away a month into a savings account for any medical issues. Same for this.

Why not go underground house. It's perfect insulation for a fire. Just make sure nothing is generally close to fall on top. An added bonus is you get built in camo.

it's literally mountain property. Dirt only exists in the valley where the cows graze.
