My job can have me pretty tired by the end of the days, but I think my mind is just always going. I'm not drinking as much during the week anymore. My usual aid is jet-asleep but sometimes it's hard to find. Sometimes take Benadryl. Don't like melatonin, cause it can throw off natural levels. Slept good last night, but kept waking up from fucked up dreams, so I just watch Italian political dramas. Suggestions?

Because of this fuk’n RA I have and the never ending pain it causes it’s really hard to even get down sometimes no matter how exhausted I am from it. First few months of having it I went many nights in a row just lay’n there all night in agony until the exhaustion gave in and I’d get a night’s sleep now and again.

My old standby of watching a dull movie, documentary or crime show to lull me to sleep wasn’t working at all. Then one night I searched jewtube for the sounds of thunderstorms. It has turned out to be the best thing yet. Somehow, if I concentrate on the sounds of the rain and thunder it soothes me and my thoughts let go of the pain and out I go.

The vids are 10 hrs long, I use a cheap $10 Bluetooth speaker from Walmart right next to my bed with the volume up at about 7.5. Too loud is too annoying and too low doesn’t immerse you in the “rain storm” enough to grab your mind’s attention so that stupid thoughts and or pain can take over.

It’s been the best thing for me so far with about a 95% success rate. On the 5% nights I’ll put a movie on for about 20-30 mins then switch over to the rain. Seems to work pretty good so far.

Because of edema in my feet, ankles and knees from the RA I have to sleep with them elevated. This means I have to piss a lot. Like every two hours sometimes. So after hobbling to and fro from the pisser the pain is wide awake. I’ll just sit on the edge of the bed, close my eyes and listen to the rain. Soon enough I’m lay’n into my pillow sound asleep.

Been a method I’ve used now for about 8 months and has worked well. As a bonus, lots of vivid dreams of all kinds. Sometimes they’ll pick up where they left off after a piss.

Edit to add the rainstorm I use:

My folks are all about the rainstorm. Have you tried using kratom?

[–] 0 pt

From what I understand kratom can be pretty sketchy.

Sleep headphones and noise generator. Or a window AC unit.

Sleepy time tea or milk (contains* tryptophan, can be warm or cold but warm naturally relaxes you) Benadryl or melatonin Work out earlier in the day (if late at night, be careful with preworkout)

No screentime* 30 minutes before bed helps a lot.

Could also try meditating while lying in bed, or practice Astral projection. I like to pretend pools of water are teleports to other pools of water, so I can jump to different areas in the world. Fly around in your head and flick off the houses of the niggers in your life!

I work on pools all day. Have mixed effects with teas, sometimes get too used to them

I wonder if exposure to those chemicals messes with your brain chemistry. Probably not, not sure if chlorine has fumes though.

I'm feel immune to chlorine, cautious with acid. We had a guy pass out and nearly drown from fumes once... Also doing ponds you see some shit go down in the water industry. Missing fingers, trenches collapse on guys, etc

I've learned to embrace first and second sleep. First sleep can last like 2 to 3 hours with a space of 2 hours in between and then the rest of the night sleeping followed by getting up in the morning. But I go to bed around 930-10 pm.

Maybe. Go Julius Caesar. Think it's an age thing? I'm 35 now, but I've always had on and off issues with insomnia

I'm 49 but I've always slept weird . Try ambient drone music using one of those 'pipe' apps so you don't get commercials every 10 minutes. Keep it low so it is just a light background.

Figure out how much magnesium you are getting in day, and you are probably vastly short of the 4,500 mgs that is the recommended daily amount. Up the amount of greens that you eat by a lot. Coconut water is a great source, but drink it earlier in the day so you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to shit or piss.

Never thought about magnesium.

Zinc, magnesium, and B6 (or the blended version ZMA) about an hour before bed. Works sometimes for me. Sometimes I drift right off others it doesn't do shit. I figure that's because I just bought the individual supplements and not the wildly expensive blend they sell. Ups your test too which is nice.

Thought I had a zinc deficiency I Posted about a while back...

Stretch, hot bath, melatonin, light outs.

I just don't trust regular melatonin

When you can't sleep, say out loud to yourself, go to sleep. Three or four times. Your ears don't know the command came from your mouth and your subconscious will take over

Maybe I should hire a prostitute hypnotist

I go fishing. Can't sleep anyways.

The problem is your body isn't tired, that's why you can't sleep. You should try working out your cardio. That will tire your ass out.

Thing is, body tired, but I like my job. Usually end up with a second wind, get out on the bike. Mind always moving, s I usually write, relax with music.
