They usually link to X.com whenever they're referring to this "twitter", so I assume there are crossed wires somewhere. Does anyone have clarity on this? What is twitter? A ton of people talk about it. I'm feeling out of the loop.

Twitter is a virtual unicorn. It's supposed to enable free speech and allow people to freely communicate. However, it only exists in people's mind. Really, it's a (((CIA))) mind control framework. Once you enter, tons of bots follow you and message you trying to get you to embrace tyranny.
