I have said things like this in the past, and then get flogged by people saying "then employers could punish their employees" or "then the vote is not anonymous".

The ultimate thing that must happen is that fraudulent elections must become impossible, how that happens is up for debate, but there has to be a cheat proof way of doing it.

It's simple to create a publicly accessible database with voting info (where/when, who they voted for) that has anonymous numbers assigned instead of names. So an individual could look up their vote and confirm it electronically. Then you could check that the number of votes in the physical logs at each site equals what's in the database. And anyone could see fraud like hundreds of thousands of votes showing up at 2 AM with every entry blank except for the presidential vote.

But there's not enough political willpower to make elections borh simpler and more auditable.
