its still that way too. right now i live in a place that most never understood torrenting and now even free streaming sites. lots of people "got a guy" who sells them netflix shows on a usb stick and theres a couple places where you can still rent dvds. where as one place i grew up everyone had a torrent client and an archive of movies and games.
