I used to think that but now any learning after hours or off the clock isn't fun and just feels like work.
Yeah learning the CLI isn't glamorous, but it unlocks an entire world of compile- and CLI-only programs that are extremely difficult to get working on Windows. Things like spinning up your own Mastodon or Matrix instance, running a local version of Archive (Mnemosyne), or even just uploading Python to a Git server.
I have lost my passion for IT just sounds like work I don't want to do or learn.
Fuck man I'm right there with you. Ten plus years and I just don't give a shit anymore. Like the tech is still interesting and I can still get excited about building PC's but doing AD edits and fucking with Exchange/Azure - I'm just over it. It's easy and my bills are getting paid, so I'm still at it, but yeah the passion is gone.
Now I'm using my downtime to dabble in writing and do some consulting on the side.
