I don't know. For the first like 5 or 10 miles things are in both languages when I crossed the Vermont border, then only french. I'm around Quebec City but still, when I was in Montreal 20 years ago I never had this problem. I generally think I'm a nice person and I try to say hello to people when I walk by them. When I do that here I get stared at like I'm a fucking asshole. So now I just ignore everybody which makes me unhappy. I'm only here for another week as I circle the peninsula and then I'll be in the other maritimes and they all speak English and I bet they'll say hi back. They might call me a Yank but that's ok.
That's a good point. That's a bummer because I'm sure even assholes like to get said hello to. Oh well fuck it, I'm moving another hundred miles tomorrow so maybe it'll be a different experience there.
