I swear I had a mouse looked like it was trying to thank me when I saved it from drowning the other day. My parents dog seems different lately. you see stories of whales getting people to pull parasites off them, orcas capsizing boats. All that stuff.

I feel like being in my mid 30s people this age used to be different. Then there's older people that seem more hip and with it now. I'd say the internet just changed everything.

I have a bird feeder in my front yard and a squirrel has been eating all of the food out of it. Back in May, the feeder was empty and a squirrel was staring at me, chirping at me, telling me to fill the feeder up. I stopped and looked at the squirrel and it was looking right into my eyes, chirping and stomping it's front paw, like it was saying "hey asshole, give me some damn food". I shook my head and said to it "you should be ashamed of yourself, eating all of the birds food. You're going to get fat". Then it turned sideways and I could see it was a she, and she was pregnant. I felt bad about talking shit to her and went to grab some seed right away and filled the feeder back up. I keep it full now, and every time I see her, she looks at my and gives a nicer chirp, almost like a thank you. The seeds that she spills on the ground, she will go down and get them when I am only a couple of feet away.

I had one I used to take care of at work. It'd wait at the door for me

It could be that people in general are becoming more in tune with culture and animals. Maybe a 6th sense of human connectedness.

I know the dog we got to replace my dog that recently died is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met in my life, so I'd say yes.

I think we’re converging on the truth which is that we are animals. Don’t you just feel better knowing they’re our kin?

I made a deal with a bunch of ground dwelling bumble bees and we're getting along swell.

You made a deal with the devil son

Bumble bees are pretty friendly. They just do their thing with pollinating and are pretty neat to just watch (honeybees too). If they go to check you out and get too close to you, it seems like they almost do a 'Sorry, bro, didn't mean to get in your face' swoop and then backs off and goes back to doing its thing farther away from you.

Wasps in the ground, or wasps in general really, are niggers. Some of them really hate spiders, which is great, but doesn't mean I need to like them or absolve them of being nigger bees.

I think hornets might be actual evil incarnate. Will fly half an acre just to fuck you up for no reason at all, just because it saw you and it was bored maybe.

The image in the above post (https://pic8.co/sh/03o2Q0.jpeg) tries to load on monin, but monin deleted it. I tried to refresh the dead link on pic8 and pic8 says "unknown error occurred". I tried to reupload the image again and it gives the same shorturl that still loads on monin where the image no longer exists.

Do I need to edit an image and cut off a few pixels each time this happens in order to get a new pic8 link when I reupload it? Or should the refresh dead link reupload the pic to that host again? Or is there any way to view the pic on a different pic8 host that hasn't deleted the pic or get pic8 to display it on another host?

Dunno bout all that , but young people are definitely dumber. It's not their fault , schools would rather teach about 57 genders and how evil YT is than teach them how to balance a checking account or make change for a 20 without a screen telling them the amount.

Yeah. I'm afraid what the future will look like. There's a lot of decent based kids too

For sure there are some good based kids , but as a whole ? I doubt if more than 1/3 of guys 16-25 could change a flat tire . I know every generation says " kids today blah blah", but I think constant smart phone use makes one a retard.

We live in a wooded area and put out food for the birds. Watch them for a while and you notice some species are impressively smart. Corvids (crows, grackels, ravens, bluejays) are smarter than some people (not literally but you get the point).

I love my crow friends. I feed them. The other day I saw a hawk repeatedly swoop at a terrified sparrow that repeatedly evaded it and sought refuge in a nearby tree. Seconds later there were 4 crows headed towards the tree. They really fuckin hate hawks.

my parents and grandparents treated animals like animals. they had some pets but they never bonded with them. they were utilitarian. i feel like during the 1900s the connection waned between man and beast.

I mean, with farm living that's how it goes

It could be that you are tuning into the world around you more than you used to.
