Youre not an adult before you understand the misstakes of your parents.

Growing up doesnt make you an adult.

Watching a show doesnt make you a child.

Our history are froth with legends and myths, and sadly we will never know what that time looked like. The time when secret ninja villages, with members who were purported to have mystical abilities were around. Or what it looked like when a true master of the sword, who had been honing his abilities since childhood, took to the battlefield.

Beserk, is a show ive watched, and love. It is an anime, and it is glorious. Have a gander at it motherfucker, and be amazed.

In anycase art immitates life, and in my opinion, qhen dreaming up fantastical stories, some artists dream of times passed, and so, some of the insane stuff we see in mobies or series, however fantastical could have been a relaity, at some point.

Even if it's just nostalgia, being aware as you watch can give insights into yourself and what drew you into it as a child. In general stories can allow realizing something because it's a different context than your own life, where you've had lies pushed so much and have trouble seeing what's there.

And anime still has good stories. Hollywood is full of shit. Literal shit smeared across a screen for two hours, and they call it a movie.

Don’t believe me? Look up the latest little mermaid and tell me you don’t see shit prominently displayed as the main focal.

Anime is honest and actually tries. They don’t drag a story along years after it should’ve ended in an attempt to milk out more money from a dumbed down herd of cattle.

They adhere to traditional values, they stick to one story line, and they are, again and above all else, good story tellers.

One Punch is pretty good. I like Baki. Kengan Ashura. DBZ too. Anything with martial arts that inspires me to train more. I compete in local amateur MMA fights and during fight camp I'll fall asleep to old Baki episodes on youtube most nights.

A "cartoon" is just a different artistic style or medium that can be used by a storyteller . Whether it's traditional film, film with CGI, animation, stop motion, claymation etc, Should have no bearing on its artistic merit. If you think something is childish, because of the way it looks, without giving any credence to its content, then you are worse than a child. You are a retard.

As an example... I grew up with Speed racer & Speed Buggy. As an adult I liked Initial D.

Its fun shit about a topic I am firmly interested in that i dont have to really think about too much... I dont want to think about it too much. I think maybe those cartoons had some portion of getting me interested in how cars work as a child...

Another Example... The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad. Those are just as funny as any damn sitcom on the market. Yet they all mirror the sitcom role. Just add a bit of cartoon to liven it up.

After cramming hours of tech manuals into my head a day, dealing with the family, the dogs and just life in general. Its a great time to take a few personal minutes and just enjoy something.

People who don't use their brain (many blue collar jobs) don't have to turn it off. Also, many people constantly self medicate with booze and or heavily invest in mindless activities like watching sports. OP doesn't like cartoons but watching others play sports and mentally investing is about as childlike as an adult can get without putting on diapers.

Cartoons are another form of entertainment. It's simply a medium. It's the contents which matter and not the method of presentation. As you point out there are cartoons targeting adults, such as Family Guy and Futurama.
