Grinder and hoagie are regional, everywhere that isn't in one of these areas it'll probably just be called a sub.

Mountain west ?

Knew some kids from Idaho, and it seemed like they just rolled over a lot of consonants.

Pennsylvania, so yes, it is a hoagie. I've made a post about this before. Haha

I grew up somewhere where both sub and hoagie had a different meaning.

In the mid 80's I was playing in a Zeppelin Tribute band when there WEREN'T 30 on every corner. We went on the road and stopped in Pennsylvania to get some road food. I walked in saw a pic of a Meatball sub and said that looks good gimme that meatball sub. Guy says HUH? I say it again, same result. then I point to the pic and say a sub a sub! Like you have pictured there, he goes oooooh you mean a Hoagie. I said no I mean a Sub. That was my first introduction to how they were named differently depending on the Region. In Mass they're subs almost always. RARELY some shop will call them Grinders but not often. At least 40 years ago that was true, not sure now.

As a kid in New England every place in my neighborhood called em grinders.

I got out of Basic Training and was in St.Louis , stopped in a place. Told the girl taking order Id like a meatball grinder. She takes off to the back 3 dudes come out and start giving me the bum"s rush . I was confused , ask wuts up , they thought I was perving on the girl , lol.

Where did you grow up? I remember Grinder being popular as you got closer to Boston or North OF but out in the Burbs where I was it was always subs. Like I said the occasional sub shop WOULD call them grinders OR they actually would have in the window Sub/Grinder but everyone referred to em as subs in my neck of the woods

Grinder is for faggots. Hoagie and sub or eat a dick.

Most urgent thank you for information to be getting .

For me, a grinder is a hot sandwich. A sub and hoagie is the same thing.

I hear both sub and hoagie equally. Never really hear grinder unless talking about the pizza variety.
