I remember a car mechanic switching on a programme, clicking around and there was all the info he needed. Wonder if somebody knows where to find stuff like this.

I'm interested to know if you find a reliable solution to this.

So far it seems the most reliable option is to buy it via ebay. But workshop-manuals is giving some insight that might make it unnecessary to buy a manual.

Thanks for the reply. It's a subject that's really useful when you work on your own vehicles. Not many folks do that sorta stuff anymore. Appreciate it.

The answer is different per manufacturer. There are terminal emulators for GM on eBay that cover every model. Going to a dealers parts ordering website is where I'd start

Factory service manual.

Various online resources, mostly paid, but sometimes available via a local library website with a login account

Searching for factory service manual led me to downloadworkshopmanuals.com Seems kind of shady. Any experience with that or what to expect?

Helm sells them. If it's an older vehicle look for them on eBay.

AutoZone after login has some service information for free.

Searched unsucessfully on both platforms. Found workshop-manuals to be useful and something interesting on ebay, too. Thanks so far!

Which manufacture?

I'm a Toyota guy, so: https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/ for parts. I know BMW has something similar, I'm sure the rest do too. These are often called parts manuals, parts fiche, parts catalogs.... you can sometimes find them online (my link), but more often you'll have to hunt them down on torrent sites or the like. Don't expect to find them for vehicles within the past few years.

There are also service manuals, and those walk you through the process but rarely have good photos. Still essential to working on a vehicle. I like both digital and hard copies. I have laminated pages for Common service items that I keep with vehicle specific specialty tools, usually for torque specs and fluid types/volumes.

Exactly, except not for exotic super cars. Thanks anyway

Probably all data, it's expensive.

all data

Is this the programme to browse those things?

All data is used by many mechanic shops to find diagnostic information and procedures.

Last I looked there was a bootleg version on torrents.
