Well on the face of it, i can see why prigozin is pissed - his little PMC empire and African blood diamonds/ rare earth mineral rout has been severely curtailed. Seriously doesnt make any logical sense other than Russian military politics getting rid of an effective game piece for personal reasons. Like lets just get rid of our best element of on ground aggression. Lol and then Why the fck would any wagner sign a contract to become regular Russian military, with all it involves ?
Being a mercenary is always precarious. It's akin to asking "Why are people in other militaries active duty instead of civilian contractors for Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, etc?"
Sure, however it has the benefit of not needing to adhere to typical formalities regarding rules, regulations and conduct, with different payment rates and lengths for serving out proposed contracts etc. Generally, it appeals to those who have already previously served in the Military and would rather not re-enlist.
