If you take too much iodine, your body will begin dumping minerals. If there is such a thing as anecdotal measurement, like 5lb shits after iodine is it.
The key to thyroid health is in iodine, magnesium, copper, selenium, zinc and one more thing I can't think of right now. Each of those is important. Zinc usually makes you sick to your stomach is you're over doing it.

If you are a fat ass, you should be looking into potentially supplementing with msm, and NAC. If you've had a sustained period of the high sugar Western American diet, most of the time liposomal vitamin C will make you feel like money.
If you do the msm, buy the veterinary grade horse stuff (low cost), and mix 16 tablespoons into gallon of water. Let it sit until absorbed, and start drinking 4oz/day.
