So you've posted that stupid green text here 20 times and now you're an expert on iodine deficiency. You know which supplemental iodine sources cut it and which don't. You know fluoride and boron compete for uptake. You know all the ways not getting enough iodine is fucking us up.

Ok.

How do you know if your iodine supplementation has actually succeeded in raising your levels to the ideal range? Does it go beyond just "I feel better"? Is anyone actually getting lab work done? And, if so, what labs?

I just have to know if I'm getting enough iodine.

Rub a drop of lugols solution on the inside of your elbow. If it takes hours to disappear, you are likely sufficent in iodine. But if it disappears in less than an hour, you are likely deficient.

Thanks. A real answer to the question wow!

BTW, I took op's advice years ago. I cannot tell the difference between evaporation and absorbtion. Sweat or bathing will remove it as well. I am highly skeptical of this advice now.

Be advised, if you have Hashimotos disease, the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the western world, iodine will make it worse.

If you have actual thyroid dysfunction. Find a doctor to get you a complete thyroid panel.

Boron is good for you, can legit detoxify brain glands, and is a vital bone building block - bromine is what you were thinking of.

Good point on the faults of this skin test.

You're right about Boron/Bromine. I mixed that up. Bromine - something they put in enriched grain products?

idk, from what I've gathered here I'm taking a very high dosage of iodine, so I may just get some labs to confirm it's time to dial it back.

was my answer... insufficient?

I don't know. Now I'm going to have to feed your answer to another user until they die to find out.
