A company called Luxottica owns almost every name brand eye wear company out there, so anything you'd buy from your local store or optometrist is going to be expensive. There are online options like and where you can get pretty good deals on glasses.
I've bought from Zenni before. Figuring out the OD number for your frames is the tricky part, and your eye doctor isn't likely to help because they want you to buy from them. I bought a cheap frame the first time I tried it to see how well I did, and it worked out.
I use Zenni because my prescription is insane and they are more affordable than the optometrist. So far, I've had no issues and I think I've been using their glasses with a prescription from my optometrist for at least 10 years. You can ask for the OD number. My guy has never even questioned it. If he did, I'd just say it was for setting up my VR headset ;)
My eye doctor gave me the OD number, too. A number of people told me they had a hard time getting the info, however.
I had a former colleague use and liked/recommended Warby, but I was not in the market at the time. Is the OD number for frames only, or is this part of the overall 'script? I specifically requested my full testing outputs, i.e. a prescription detail I can take anywhere for new specs.
Ninja edit: YES! I have OD and OS numbers for both eyes.
The OD number is the distance between the center of your pupils. It's a requirement for glasses to work well.
Another recommend for the chinese BS shit that is Zenni.
As stated by the . The rest are owned by Luxottica, or one other company owns the remainder.
That chinese company. stands out as unowned by those 2.
