In DM and without changing the regular color (white) on default css, here's a few that may work...
Edit: BTW, I've only just switched BR on and the default white bold/regular works well for me at present.

For anyone wanting to try some colors in Firefox: select some of the bold at the beginning of a word, right-click and Inspect Element. Then in the developer pane at the bottom under This Element in the bold section, click after bolder; and press return/enter to make a new line. Then type color: #fff and enter. Then click the little circle to the left of # to open a color editor. It updates the page live as you draw the color selector around. Don't use the lower slider, which controls transparency (but might seem to be the brightness of the color).

It also converts the color values into RGBA (red green blue + alpha channel for transparency)
The slight yellow tint looked better than just gray.
Please be mindful of color blindness. Up to 10% of the male population.
