I'm staying at my father's house for a little bit and he likes to feed the finches. But Finch food is $15 for a 7 lb bag. It's a complete rip-off. To me it just looks like there's sunflower seeds in there that are kind of shredded. I wonder if I could just get a big thing of sunflower seeds and put them in a blender and let the blender just puree the stuff. That's probably not how it works however? For any of you lads and lasses that feed your finches what do you do to get around the cartel prices?

Find your local farm supply store. Rural King, Tractor Supply, etc. They'll have 40 or 50 pound bags of generic bird seeds. You could get 40 or 50 pound bags of sunflower seeds and mix up your own feed with that as you go. Idk which birds eat what seeds/grains, but you could probably have some luck with a cheap scratch grain, too. (40 or 50 pounds, can't recall which, some stores/brands are different, but they'll have them.) Pretty sure the Rural King in my area let's folks purchase some feeds by the pound, so there's that way, too. Good luck with your birds!
