Air rifle? Use 22 cal. You can trap them, look it up. It's kinda complicated and there's different ways. Some more reliable than others. I've always just used the larger bird shots in a 12 gauge. No matter what you choose, they are a PITA to kill. Use a blind- shoot from cover. Populated area: make sure you have a backstop. Not all air rifles are created equally.
