I liked VOAT, but it was more unnecessarily aggressive and angry than this place.
More aggressive, yes. Unnecessarily, no. There was a brotherhood there that just isn't here. It was hazing and weeding out. However, there was a sense of place there. There was more users, more cohesion, more unity. It wasn't perfect, but it was a team. Even if many disagreed, there wasn't the sense of apathy and disconnect I feel here. It may be I am projecting, but.
Here is a semi-forced cordial attitude for anyone that isn't in the elite class of super posters. The few main users dominate the asylum. They bicker amongst themselves. It's hatred followed by a mixture of quiet or obtuse defense among the core few dozen. The cohesion here is uninspired, and feels far more disjointed. Sure we all can say what we want, under the threat of AUO's flippant branding. With Voat, you didn't need a moderated culling or tagging (though it happen.) The users knew from experience. It seemed like we all hated and loved each other in our own sick way, like a sports team that that didn't get along yet still loved the team. It was a community, while here the only users I recognize are the ones that are annoying and/or have 30k posts a year.
I am confident I am just being a nostalgic drunk, but there just isn't a comparison. Even the Friday Night Guitar thread has not been able to survive here. How innocuous is that weekly thread? Yet it can't survive among the user base that has been built over half a decade? It thrived in the den of misfits that was Voat.
Paol is my main base, and I appreciate it in my own way, but it's like being a refugee stuck in a new home while pining for what was lost.
Fuck you you cocksucking niggerfaggot!
