Poal isn't the same. Talk .lol isn't the same. What a loss. I truly miss that site, and only see this place as a backup that could never be as great.

Voat went down more than a drunken sorority girl.

[–] 1 pt

Well put, but it was worth it. She also had a few sores on her mouth...

[–] 1 pt

It was still awesome though.

I miss Voat sometimes, but it's dead and gone. World still turns, I'm in an igloo.

is the archive still up?

Voat was fun, but that ship sailed. AOU is a more competent developer than Putt was anyway.

[–] 1 pt

Not to mention (((captainmeta4))) of Ruqqus. It was going down so often that it became the biggest inside joke on the site.

[–] 0 pt

Competent developer, shitty mod.

I liked VOAT, but it was more unnecessarily aggressive and angry than this place.

[–] 1 pt

More aggressive, yes. Unnecessarily, no. There was a brotherhood there that just isn't here. It was hazing and weeding out. However, there was a sense of place there. There was more users, more cohesion, more unity. It wasn't perfect, but it was a team. Even if many disagreed, there wasn't the sense of apathy and disconnect I feel here. It may be I am projecting, but.

Here is a semi-forced cordial attitude for anyone that isn't in the elite class of super posters. The few main users dominate the asylum. They bicker amongst themselves. It's hatred followed by a mixture of quiet or obtuse defense among the core few dozen. The cohesion here is uninspired, and feels far more disjointed. Sure we all can say what we want, under the threat of AUO's flippant branding. With Voat, you didn't need a moderated culling or tagging (though it happen.) The users knew from experience. It seemed like we all hated and loved each other in our own sick way, like a sports team that that didn't get along yet still loved the team. It was a community, while here the only users I recognize are the ones that are annoying and/or have 30k posts a year.

I am confident I am just being a nostalgic drunk, but there just isn't a comparison. Even the Friday Night Guitar thread has not been able to survive here. How innocuous is that weekly thread? Yet it can't survive among the user base that has been built over half a decade? It thrived in the den of misfits that was Voat.

Paol is my main base, and I appreciate it in my own way, but it's like being a refugee stuck in a new home while pining for what was lost.

Fuck you you cocksucking niggerfaggot!

😉

[–] 1 pt

I feel it's a more connected place, knowing all you fine faggots all these years now

[–] 1 pt

I never got to experience Voat, as I was a normie using Ruqqus at the time.

[–] 1 pt

It was okay before putt took over. That fucker had no balls and no ability to manage or he was hired to kill the site. Good riddance.

I'm more satisfied with poal, less morons here.

before putt took over

I thought he ran it the whole time.

[–] 1 pt

Atko or something ran it for a while, putt was doing the development from what I recall.

[–] 1 pt

He was always an admin but the creator (atco) turned it over completely so that he could have more of a personal life IIRC.

[–] 1 pt

voat was shut down because they were figuring out how to organize a constitutional militia.

[–] 1 pt

only see this place as a backup that could never be as great

GTFO with that stinky wet towel bullshit attitude. I don't think either site was/is "the best" but I deeply appreciate the constant efforts of , both technically and philosophically. A digital respite from today's completely insane clownworld.

[–] 1 pt

Poal is good but could do with few more users. I think aou, Anticlutch, prof paz make up 50% of the posts

[–] 1 pt

Voat really changed my life. It was so great.
