Mexicans are literally the hardest working in the world by every statistic, just look it up, they work more hours per year, with less vacation, and less money, than any other country.
So on average, mexicans are much hard working and honest than you probably are.
You have clearly never worked next to Mexicans. If you work hard they tell you to slow down so they can get overtime. They work more hours to force overtime.
I work with mexicans every day, and I actually recruit and choose personnel. I agree that what happened to you, can and does happen, there is lazy people everywhere.

Also, there maybe cultural differences between mexicans working in México and those working in the USA. The later being more prone to lazynes because maybe they can get away with it easier.
