It's a Hip hinge. Doing deadlifts is another Hip hinge that stresses the hips more because of the heavier weight.

I don't think it's a bad exercise , but if you weigh 140 , have a small skeletal frame cuz woman , 225lbs + just seems like way more risk than reward. Even a guy in his 20s doesn't seem like a great idea to do on the reg
Always thought that doing hip thrusts was the realm of those wanting an arse like a sheboon (especially given that it's front and central of a lot of workout programs directed at women - often to the detriment of pretty much everything else).
I've noticed lots more guys doing it. It's to be expected I guess as it would help with various forms of grappling
It’s very hard to isolate the glutes for workout. The only thing I’ve found so far that truly works good is ankle strap with the cable machine. But it’s an incredibly annoying machine if you can’t do it while standing because your knee won’t allow it.
Glute bridges are second best but not comparable imo.

Oh you mean Barbell hip thrusts, not machine? I suppose with lack of back support that does seem strenuous but while progressing from light weight your back muscles like the erector spinae would also get stronger.
