If you were too young to hear about the Enron scandal, look that up. The company retirement fund was stocks in their own company, and the execs all had golden parachutes and bailed and cashed out as the company was sent down the tubes by them... leaving the employees with nothing. Correct me if I'm not remembering that correctly.
