Sounds like you're being enriched by diversity.
self check outs at a grocery store
I value my time. Self checkout lets me GTFO far faster.
Done by design. In high-school when i worked as a cashier i had to have things scanned within a minute to push people through fast. Now im 10 minutes standing wt the till while they tell me to donate to diverse causes.
…because they cut back to only one person on the register instead of 4.
Same here, but I only use the rare ones that accept cash.
Who is John Galt?
Let's make it come true. Who indeed.
A local contractor, over twenty years in business, signed on to do some work for me. He had a crew, but he only showed up a few times, mostly to ask for money for things that weren’t specifically in the original contract.
I had to micromanage his crew because they would often get the simplest requests wrong, or they’d try to pull a shortcut that looked terrible.
Just under 80% into the project, he quits via text, demanding he get paid his 90% “under the terms of the contract” or else he’d “put a lien” on my property. In short, there was a clause stating I could only withhold 10% of the funds while awaiting the assessment of an inspector.
Having been forced to micromanage and nickel and dime my way through the project, I quickly pulled my copy of the contract, and discovered a condition that the contract could only be terminated in writing by both parties. Legally, texts qualify as “in writing.” I dashed off an email with screenshots of his message, accepting his resignation and termination of the contract.
Never heard back after that. No lien. Nothing.
For the same project I hired a second contractor to finish it up. Same problem. Had to micromanage. Didn’t show up. Dragged on. Quit after finishing his 80%.
Nobody cares anymore.
self checkout
Best thing ever. Though maybe because I'd do it anyway because few people can organize a bag as nicely as I. Pretty sure they're all autistic.
Everyone is autistic except you.
Do self checkouts have item limits? I never see signs, but it seems obvious they want the norm to be small purchases. What would happen if you tried to check out a full cart of groceries at self checkout?
I was just thinking about rebelling a little and saying I need help out to my car every time I shop.
I remember the ones around here having "15 or less" on them when they first opened.
Those vanished years ago, and now people try and check out two carts of stuff through one. Some do it because there's only one-two lanes open, others I'm sure are doing it because they're stupid.
Don’t get me started on delivery companies.
Today's people are not led to be independent and responsible problem solvers.
From an early age they're taught to follow direction and memorize things, rather than understand them. Many social circles don't value hard work and encourage only the average and below average students to get dead end jobs where their bosses constantly tell them how to do their jobs.
The result is a human whose brain has solidified without critical thinking or problem solving skills. A person who expects their boss to tell them exactly what to do and how to do their jobs. A person who expects life to be spoon fed to them.
The world is full of these people.
Customer service has been going to hell for a while. But I feel like I noticed a huge acceleration after COVID. I’m not sure why or if there’s even a link between the two, but it’s just something I’ve noticed.
Because the gov used covid as an excuse for everything so whh shouldnt others?
There's a restaurant I sometimes order take out from where I always have to check to make sure every item is included, because they always forget something. They put a table out so patrons could more conveniently check their own orders. Check, not double check.
This is my local Texas Roadhouse.
I've noticed that with insurance companies. You have to prod them all the time for the simplest things like receipts of document submission.
