I was an awkward child and never had anyone take an interest in me until later in life. Had a "I want to be more than friends" request and I had no idea how to react and drove the person away. I was told through mutual friends that there was a lot of hurt there, and I still feel bad about that today. Tried to apologize later but the damage was done.
