Does this exist?

The app is designed for metal detecting enthusiasts who want to track their search progress and ensure they cover all areas of a site.

The app uses GPS and geofencing technology to track the user's location and record the areas they have searched.

The app displays a map view that shows the user's current location as well as the areas they have searched, highlighted in red.

The app uses a 4-foot geofencing radius to detect when the user enters or exits an area, and records the location data accordingly.

The app records the search progress in real-time and updates the map view as the user moves around the site.

Sorry for the AI speak. I'm lazy now that I don't have to think.

I found one called Treasure Logger on Play store. I have no experience with it, just did a quick search because I was curious after reading your post.

Also, check this. https://www.treasurenet.com/threads/metal-detectorists-tracking-and-finds-recording-app.332670/ or search text o track lite in the Play store.

Thank you!

I think the developer abandoned the app. Hasn't been updated, I get a message saying it won't work on my phone because it's too new.

I have used an app called Fields Area Measure. It's for measuring acreage, but might also work for tracing your path in real time.

BTW, thanks for bringing up this idea. I recently bought a metal detector. I haven't un-boxed it yet, waiting until the snow is gone where I am.

Let’s get it made! I think this would be wildly useful.

I want one too! Think it could have some entertainment value

That's sort of the idea. I'm looking for something similar. I just want that highlighted/painted area on the map to track where I've been. Preferably something painted on to google maps

On x hunt. Pretty much does what you’re asking

Looks great but I'm looking for pretty granular detail. Just a map and my location basically functions as a marker tip that colors in a 4 foot radius. Need to be able to zoom way in. That way you could cover a large area over time without too much note taking

I don’t use it much but my friend gave me access to his account and that’s exactly what he has in several locations There’s a tracking system that will show where he walks to be able to find deer sheds

Groovy. I'll give this a try and report back. Thank you fren

Thinking outside the box....

From the link: I have the Navionics Boating app. It's GREAT for ice fishing and boating, but also works pretty good for tracking my path, and marking spots while detecting. You can view your location on a map or on satellite pic.

I think you can demo it for free. Give it a shot.

They also have a Navionics Hiking app that may be better for detecting, but I've never used that one.
